BEEF NORTHWEST FEEDERS PURCHASES LOCAL PORK BUSINESS, CARLTON FARMS

CARLTON, OREGON – Beef Northwest Feeders (Beef NW), a family-owned cattle operation headquartered in North Powder, Oregon, has purchased local family-owned Carlton Farms. This acquisition aligns with Beef NW’s history of expanding their footprint in the Pacific Northwest and taking on opportunities in agribusiness.

Julian Garcia, Beef NW’s CEO said: “We are delighted to add Carlton Farms to our portfolio of agricultural businesses. Their commitment to quality, customers, and employee focus unlocks exciting growth opportunities in the Pacific Northwest. This acquisition reflects our continued commitment to investing in local agriculture.”

Carlton Farms has been committed to providing top-quality artisan products for over 60 years. Beef NW will stay committed to this while also looking to expand the product mix. The two Oregon families have a long history of doing business together, with Beef NW being a long-time supplier of locally finished cattle to Carlton for their beef products. This long-time partnership creates a synergy which will support Carlton Farms’ ability to continue to provide outstanding quality products, local employment, and stay rooted in Oregon.

States Rita Duyn, “John Duyn and I have worked hard to build the Carlton Farms brand with superior products and service. I take pride in our accomplishments, and I am confident Beef NW has the resources and core values that will take Carlton Farms to a new level. It is a great fit for all. I take comfort knowing this company will continue in their hands and be part of the Wilson family legacy.”

Beef NW was established in 1991 by the 5th generation of Wilsons. The Wilson Family’s goal was to increase vertical integration up and down the supply chain around their generational cow/calf operation and other local suppliers. Over the years, it has grown from a single feedyard into the largest raiser and finisher of natural cattle in the west with locations in Boardman, OR, Nyssa, OR, and Quincy, WA. Their successful growth is attributed to a history of being employee focused and the ability to maintain loyal, long-term employees. This employee focus will carry over to the operations of Carlton Farms, giving employees opportunities for continuing their leadership/management development, furthering secondary education, and other employee-focused investments.

“Beef Northwest is excited to expand its footprint in the Pacific Northwest with the acquisition of Carlton Farms. John and Rita Duyn lead a multigenerational family tradition committed to offering the Pacific Northwest with high quality protein and the Wilson Family looks forward to carrying that torch.” – Zach Wilson, Beef NW Partner.

The Duyn’s legacy of being actively engaged to Carlton and surrounding areas will also continue; Beef NW will support and encourage employees to be active members in their communities, with a company focus on youth programs and food banks. With the opportunity to help support county fairs, local 4-H clubs, and high school FFA groups, Beef NW is looking forward to expanding its involvement to more youth programs associated with the ag community.

The purchase of Carlton Farms is an opportunity for Beef NW to establish roots in Western Oregon, keep a local company operating locally under a family-owned ag business, and support Oregon agriculture.
