Celena Hefner is one of our Risk Management Analysts at the North Powder Office and we have been lucky enough to have her on the admin team for almost two years.
She grew up in Union, Oregon and attended college at Eastern Oregon University. While she was in school she obtained 2 degrees in Business and Agricultural Sciences and a whopping 4 minors in Crops, Animal Science, Rangeland Ecology, and Marketing!
Her interest in a career at Beef Northwest lined up with her passion for cattle and wanting to work in an agricultural occupation close to home. Coming from a family ranch, Celena appreciates that Beef Northwest supports ranches in the Pacific Northwest by buying commodities from farmers in the area or supplying our feedlots with cattle raised locally.
One of Celena’s highlights this year was completing her cattle ownership goal. She said “The Cattle Ownership Goal was by far one of the best goals for me. I had the opportunity to process a group of cattle at the yard, follow them through their stay at the feed yard, and even help with grading at the packing plant. This goal ties in all parts of the feed yard business; from procurement of the cattle, assuming risk for them, feeding/processing costs, and more. Overall, I had a first-hand experience as an owner feeding with Beef Northwest. It was also a great opportunity to meet with coworkers from different parts of the company that I would normally not have the pleasure of working with.”
When she is not working in the office she likes to be outdoors riding horses or hunting. Her favorite quote is “A hard days work never hurt anybody” from Lonesome Dove and that is apparent in the work she does for us!
